After concluding his international tour, which included visits to several countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the United States of America, Mr. Youssef Aroog, founder of the Mediterranean Youth Foundation, heads to the Republic of Tunisia to participate in the launching ceremony of the Youth Network in the field of Rule of Law (RoLYN). This network was launched by the Council of Europe as one of the outcomes of the twenty-ninth session of the Lisbon Forum, which took place last October on the theme “Human Rights, Environment, and Economic Crimes: Youth at the forefront.”

The establishment of this network comes within the framework of the mandate given by the heads of state and government of the member states of the Council of Europe, aiming to make a tangible contribution to the implementation of the Reykjavik Summit decisions. At the forefront is empowering youth organizations to promote a culture of rule of law and create spaces for youth empowerment and regional cooperation among them.

The Lisbon Forum, a major event organized by the North-South Center since 1994, is a platform for exchanging issues of common interest at the global level by bringing together high-level expertise from the North and the South. It follows a “quadrilateral” approach that brings together governments, parliamentarians, elected representatives at the regional and local levels, and civil society.

The aim of RoLYN is to increase youth awareness and ownership of global human rights, rule of law, and standards. The 2024-2025 edition will focus on developing a network of specialized change agents in combating corruption, with particular emphasis on the links between corruption and environmental degradation.

Stay tuned for updates on the event..!
