In a distinguished setting that witnessed wide attendance by senior officials and representatives
of national and international institutions, the Mediterranean Youth Foundation for Development
launched the Action Program for LCOY Egypt 2025 at the Alexandria Bibliotheca, with active
participation from ministers and prominent academic and religious figures. The conference also
featured recorded statements from:H.E. Ambassador Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign AffairsH.E.
Dr. Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation H.E. Judge Mohamed Abdel Salam,
Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders Dr. Heba Labib, Assistant Vice President for Innovation
and Entrepreneurship at Nile UniversityDr. Mahmoud Seddiq, Vice President of Al-Azhar University
Dr Nima Saeed Abid, Representative of the World Health Organization in Egypt
In addition,
speeches were delivered on behalf of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, as well as the
Ministries of Local Development, Awqaf, Social Solidarity, and Agriculture.The conference also featured
speeches from Dr. Mohamed Refay, CEO of Misr El Kheir Foundation;
Dr. Mohamed Hassan Youssef,First Undersecretary for Economic Entities and Units Sector at National
Investment Bank; and Dr. Mohamed El-Sawy, Vice President for the Delta Region at Al-Azhar University.
Mr. Youssef Aroog, Founder and President of the Board of Trustees of MYF, expressed his pride in the wide
participation from ministries, governmental bodies, civil society, religious institutions, academic entities,
and the banking sector. He noted that this strong presence reflects the state’s keen interest in supporting
youth-led climate initiatives that contribute to enhancing Egypt’s image globally. Dr. Youssef Wardany,
former Assistant of the Ministers of Youth and Sports, emphasized that the conference aligns with
Egypt’s national policies to address climate change. He highlighted that these efforts have been
strengthened by H.E. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi through the launch of the National Climate
Change Strategy 2050, the establishment of the National Council for Climate Change, and the
enactment of a package of laws promoting the green transition and renewable energy. The event concluded
with a session titled “Expedition to the Sustainable Erasmus World”, presented by Mr. Youssef Aroog,
Founder and President of the Board of Trustees of MYF, and Ms. Nadine Gad, Intern at MYF Paid Internship
Program. This was followed by a climate-themed competition facilitated by Mr. Abdelhalim Mohamed,
Executive Director of the MYF, which included the distribution of cash prizes to the participants.
