When Photography Becomes a Tool for Cultural Understanding: Yara Pérez Discovers Egypt Through Its Non-Traditional Cities and Inspiring Social Nature. The Mediterranean Youth Foundation is hosting European photographer and artist “Yara Pérez”, in collaboration with the Hellenic Youth Participation and with the support of the Anna Lindh Foundation, as part of the ALF in Motion “Mobility for Creativity” program. For a month, Pérez will participate in the project “Photography as a Tool for Cross-Cultural Understanding.” The project aims to break down stereotypes associated with Southern Mediterranean cities, with a particular focus on modern Egyptian cities. It offers the photographer “Yara Pérez” the opportunity to explore non-traditional locations that showcase the diverse social aspects of daily life in Egypt. Additionally, the project seeks to employ photography as a sophisticated tool for cultural and human communication, presenting a visual perspective that highlights cultural diversity and addresses negative or stereotypical images about Southern Mediterranean countries, with a focus on Egypt as a model. Stay tuned for enriching activities throughout the project!
