As part of our strategic project I. MAM VIRTUAL, funded by the European Union and aimed at supporting the job inclusion of 600 young women and future mothers from Euro-Mediterranean countries including Italy, Turkey, Bulgaria, Jordan, Tunisia, and Egypt, Dr. Yasmeen Aladdin, a gender expert and Co-President of the Mediterranean Youth Foundation, delivered a virtual training session focusing on the concept of intersectionality as a methodology for understanding women’s intersecting experiences. The training addressed the definition of intersectionality and its importance as a tool for understanding the challenges and opportunities individuals face daily based on their complex identities, which include factors such as religion, race, gender, and economic status. The workshop also featured a unique artistic activity where all participants expressed their identities and personal experiences from an intersectional perspective, aiming to explore the various challenges and advantages.
