The Mediterranean Initiative for Climate (MIC) 2025

The Mediterranean region is home to more than 510 million people and is warming 20% faster than the global average, according to UNEP. Recognizing the urgency of these environmental challenges, MIC emerged as a youth-led initiative to tackle environmental key issues such as climate change and corruption.

The MIC initiative will target 45 representatives aged 21–35 from civil society organizations based in Egypt, Tunisia, and Libya, with a focus on ensuring a minimum of 40% female participation. MIC aims to address environmental corruption, including Improper Disposal of Industrial Waste in Tunisia, air pollution and water mismanagement in Greater Cairo and Upper Egypt, and environment Negligence and Lax Oversight in Libya through capacity-building workshops and intensive mentorship over the course of five months.
